Let us face it that the things I have mentioned above are possible, especially becoming poor. I have read an article earlier today wherein this situation is seen. Here is an excerpt:
Mr. Araya, 38 years old, lost his job in 2007 as a crude oil trader in the New York Mercantile Exchange. After visiting dozens of headhunters with no luck, he applied in August 2008 to be a host at the Palm to support his wife, two young daughters and mortgage payments. His salary has plunged from $200,000 to $25,000.
If the financial crisis was the flood, then the Arayas are one of the families standing in the stagnant waters left behind. Some former Wall Street employees, highly trained and accustomed to comfortable salaries, are having trouble translating their specialized skills to other fields that pay well, and instead find themselves forced to accept low-wage work. Now, Mr. Araya is on the brink of losing it all and is doubtful that he will ever return to Wall Street.Source: Yahoo Financial
Mr. Araya’s story is just one out of a thousand unfortunate stories. The economic situation has been taking a toll on the citizens. Lay-off these days are quite normal, but all the same, it is still sad.
Some will say, “Don’t loose hope, you should get back on your feet and start looking for a job.” That is a good plan, find a job right away. However let us be realistic here, how many people have been laid –off this year, and how many jobs are offered?
ANSWER: Many were laid-off, not enough jobs are offered.
Reality check, not only are there limited jobs offered, the competition is pretty stiff. Say for example you’re a 35-year-old dude who lost his job and you are competing against someone younger and more vibrant, who do you think they’ll choose?
Companies will go for the younger employee of course. For one they will pay this new employee less than what you’ll demand. So what are you going to do? Look for another job opening?
Why not start your own Online Business.
Now, the pessimists out there I know will think this is not a good time to start a business. We need to think wisely before we spend our money. Investment in a time like this is not advisable, as some would say.
As an aspiring entrepreneur, your biggest challenge is not knowing where to start. You will probably think, it will not work because you do not have a website, you do not have a product to sell, and you have not identified your target market.
You will find plenty of techniques and strategies in the internet on how you should start your online business, that alone is overwhelming. Do not let this scare you, and stop you from getting what you want. The important thing is, JUST GET STARTED. True that you might be doing the wrong things right now, such as selling the wrong product in the wrong market, however the learning process starts from there. Everyone who has achieved success has gone through failure first. What’s important is that you learn from it.
Focus. Keep the momentum up, and always think of your goal. Work towards your goal, and in time everything you have done will pay-off.
Listen. Once you have launched your internet business and you have your website up and running, it is important to listen to customer’s comments and recommendations. These people are a good source of information. Sure, some of them will criticize you or your product, but you should not take that the wrong way. They are criticizing you because they want you to improve your products / services. Not only will you learn from them about what people are looking for you can also earn lifelong customers, and even friends.
Once you decide that you want to SUCCEED, do everything, and work hard towards your goal. You’ll eventually get your reward in the end.
For those people who got laid-off, do not lose hope. There is always a better opportunity for you out there. And yes, starting your Online business is just the thing to get into right now.
